Today in class, we will discuss communication tools and get to use iPod touches as a communication vehicle for students. This form of assistive technology is great and you have to consider the individual needs of each students when determining what tools may be needed to help bridge the learning for students with unique needs.
In addition, we are going to become more familiar with blogging sites as a communication tool. We all logged into the blogger site and attempted to set up our own blog account.
Yesterday in class we discussed the Susie Rubin video and its impact on us as educators. This is particularly relevant as this allows us to see the complexity and diversity of issues in our classroom. In addition, this video documentary demonstrated for us the impact of Autism on a person and provides her perspectives on life, communication, learning and socialization.
I will continue more on this blog later this evening as we are in class.
This blog will try to capture some of my thoughts, impressions and ideas as I travel through EDUC5173 - Assistive Technology. In addition, I hope to be able to provide useful information to classmates from researching the internet and opening up the world of what is referred to as AT.
