Class Shopping??? Who would have thought.....

So, today we head to class...it is Monday morning, the weather is still hot and humid...my dorm room is still sweltering, the classroom is still sweltering, despite the AT in the room (namely the lone fan!!!!)...trying to offer us some comfort. Then, I read over assignment #3 and the professor says that today we will get to go shopping as part of our class assignment.....what a great way to brighten up a sticky, uncomfortable day than telling a classroom full of women (okay, and then there is our lone male representative, Carl! :)) that we get to go shopping!!! Exciting!

The purpose of this shopping trip is to work on our next unit in class on Low Tech devices. Barb gives us a brief presentation and framework for what constitutes low tech tools and we suddenly are brainstorming ways we can use regular, inexpensive, common household items as assistive low tech tools for students in our classrooms. At least, that is where my mind went when Barb began her discussion on low tech tools. I soon discovered that I had not even touched the tip of the iceberg so to speak, when Barb did a presentation by actually presenting various low tech devices that are used for some of our students. Now the wheels were really churning!

After the presentation of all these wonderful ideas, we were then set forth to go on our shopping spree! I will blog later on what tools we decided to get at the dollar store and let you know how the creative juices are flowing!!!! Talk soon!
