Shopping Escapade continued

At the beginning of this course, I had a working framework of AT due to my experiences in education and in working with students with unique needs. However, I did not realize that the possibilities for AT were this limitless.

During our shopping adventure last evening, both Shelley and I found ourselves looking at common everyday household tools and items differently. We discovered there is no need to spend exorbitant amounts of money on fancy, brand name items or tools. All you need to do is visit the Dollar Store, which is already a teacher's saving grace for classroom supplies. You can find so many items there that you can adapt and modify in very simple ways so that they are now a Low Tech tool for a person in order to make a task easier. Shelley and I were walking through the aisles of the Dollar Store in New Minas picking up so many items and discussing various uses, it was amazing to both of us that we walked out of there over an hour later!!

We purchased many items that we will be using for our projects on Low Tech tools.......so, stayed tuned. I can't wait to see all the other creative devices made by classmates as I am sure they are quite inventive, you are all so amazingly creative and imaginative!
