The day that changed my view on technology! I can think of no better way to put it then that!!! After today's class and hearing the presentations in class and all the various perspectives and ideas on how to program an iPod Touch using Proloquo2go, I decided that I am missing out on so much in terms of what technology has to offer. Initially I thought this was just because of the iPod Touch, but then after the project presentations, we went online and went to iTunes. Wow!!!!!! I can't believe how much I have been missing out on and am not positive that I will become an Apple user very shortly, by buying an iPod Touch or better yet, an iPhone. We went to iTunes on our computers and I created an account for iTunes so that I would be able to go and search around the site. Believe this or not, I have an iPod that was given to me and I didn't (prior to today) that is know how to sync my iPod to my computer and upload music. However, thanks to today's class, I feel that I have taken a huge leap forward and am now able to upload music to my iPod, which I will be doing quite regularly as my music tastes change so quickly.
In addition, we got to experiment with an iPad, which is such a unique device. Some of the features that were amazing to me were the keyboard, the guitar (so you can truly play air guitar), the fluid section, where you can calm yourself - I anticipate that I will be using this QUITE frequently when I return to work!!!! But will have Apple to thank for this stress reliever.
It is absolutely amazing how many applications there are available on iTunes. I am certain that I will be spending much time there searching and browsing for applications that are useful, relevant and a bit of some that are purely entertainment. However, the great news is that I took a leap forward and will now be purchasing Apple products.....just so happens I am need of a new computer system, or at least that is what I will tell myself due to my new found appreciation for Apple and their products!!!! Thank you!
This blog will try to capture some of my thoughts, impressions and ideas as I travel through EDUC5173 - Assistive Technology. In addition, I hope to be able to provide useful information to classmates from researching the internet and opening up the world of what is referred to as AT.
